The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has had the super ability to place variants of our favorite characters in their movies and shows since the Multiverse set up in the first Doctor Strange movie but ultimately explored in the first season of Loki, arguably. Since then, the Multiverse has had significant roles in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
MCU variants are alternate forms or versions of characters from the main MCU timeline, which is also known as The Sacred Timeline, that the Time Variance Authority operates to protect. Variance exists in parallel universes and branched timelines outside the MCU. For example, since both Iron Man and Ghost Rider exist on Earth-616, there could be a limitless amount of Iron Man and Ghost Rider counterparts living in other parallel timelines and realities.
The Multiverse is how we had so many Loki forms (Sylvie, Boastful Loki, Kid Loki, Classic Loki, and Alligator Loki) in the first season of Loki, why Andrew Garfield and Tobey McGuire re-suited up in Spider-Man 3, Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and the Illuminati appeared in Multivers of Madness, and the multiple Kangs in Ant-Man 2.
MCU can now do whatever they feel without dramatic messing up or moving The Sacred Timeline. Let that sink in. We’ve already seen it. Remember Tom Cruise playing Iron Man in Multiverse of Madness rumors? We did see John Krasinski play a Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic variant, which afterward was reported as a one-time thing for fan service.
We’re anticipating more of the X-men characters to also show up in the MCU with Deadpool 3 release in 2024. We know that we’re getting Deadpool, and according to IMDB, reprisals by Blind Al, Dopinder Yukio, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Colossus, and Peter.
I’m ecstatic to know Wolverine will be in it. The set photos of Hugh Jackman rocking the yellow and blue Wolverine suit of the 1990s were brilliant. Is Jackman playing a Wolverine variant? Isn’t Mobius supposed to appear in Deadpool 3? There is that rumor about Daniel Radcliffe also emerging as a Logan or Wolverine. Shrug!
Now, Disney and Marvel, since we’re discussing the Multiverse. How about adding some variants portrayed by two Rap Royals? Let’s introduce the Ghostface Killah and the M-E-T-H-O-D Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Comic books heavily influenced both Ghostface Killah and Method Man.
One of Ghostface’s aliases is Tony Starks, and he named his 1996 album Iron Man. The rapper apparently filmed a scene for one of the Iron Man movies but got cut.
Method Man has called himself Johnny Blaze (a motorcycle stuntman who became Ghost Rider) in his music. He played himself in an episode of Netflix’s Luke Cage, but that’s not what I envisioned as his variant.
Imagine how awesome this could be. We see a giant red and gold Iron Man variant ripping through the sky and hitting the ground in one of those famous superhero poses, and then his mask opens to reveal Ghostface Killah. Then we see a Ghost Rider variant burning up the highway in flames, jumping a giant valley, and then his head turns from a flaming skull to a Johnny Blaze variant played by Method Man.
So how about it, Marvel? Do a Wu-Tang Clan crossover with these members and possibly others. Wu-Tang Clan Marvel variants are something to blank with. It’s an excellent suggestion. If they want to, make Ghostface Killah a Iron Man variant and Method Man a Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider variant.
