My Perspective on Age and Age Groups Makes Sense, Right

How old we are, what age group we say we fall in, and age descriptions are recurring themes and hot topics in our everyday lives and conversation.

We each perceive age differently.

Like how you saying I’m twenty years old might lead to another person saying that your in your early twenties because you are twenty years old.

Well for me I don’t believe someone who is twenty years old is not in their early twenties until the day of their 21st birthday.

And if someone says they are 36 years old then I would also clock them as being in their mid thirties.

These are just some examples of how I cluster and interpret age.

This is, of course, the way I view age groups and age descriptions. We are all completely welcome to have our own thoughts on this. I don’t think you are wrong for yours. I just wanted to put that in this post.

Let me break this down a little bit more.

Newborn is birth to 2 months
Infant is birth to 1 year
Toddler is 1 to 3 years
Ages four to nine are just the ages they are
Elementary School Age is 5 to 11 years old
Preteen or “tween” is 10 to 12 years old
Teenagers are 13 to 19 years old
Middle School Age is 12 to 14 years old
Highschoolers are 15 to 18 years old
In College means someone is 18 to 22 years old
Twenty-something or “in your twenties” means someone is 21 to 29 years old
Twenty years old is exactly 20 years old and don’t consider a twenty year old to be in their early twenties
Early twenties is 21 to 23
Mid twenties is 24 to 26
Late twenties is 27 to 29
Thirty something or “in your thirties” means someone is 31 to 39
Thirty years old is exactly 30 years old and don’t consider a
Early thirties is 31 to 33
Mid thirties is 34 to 36
Late thirties is 37 to 39
I don’t want to type them out but the rest of the decades (40s, 50s, etc.) follow this for me
Middle age starts at 45 years of age
I don’t have any strong feelings to adding “and a half” to your age but sometimes it can funny
