Remember the radio? It’s that old tech we used to use to consume music, news, sports, or talk shows in our cars and homes.
Ewww, right!
Well, it never went away. Radio is still on our minds, maybe not so much in our homes anymore, but it’s still a big part of a car ride, even in the era of podcasts, audiobooks, and music streaming services.
I definitely still listen to the radio on the way to and from work, and while running errands.
I’m in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, and I have my favorite radio stations. I currently bounce between the six radio station presets I saved in my car.
These stations work great for my inner-city driving, but not so much when I leave the Charlotte radio market.
It gets really annoying when we’re on a road trip and start losing signal for our radio stations. You go through all your other favorite stations until you lose them all. Then your next move is to scan the area radio stations for some similar music. You’ll find one that works, but you’ll eventually lose the new station signal and have to repeat.
Well, that’s what I do.
If this is ever you as well, let me save you the scan and share some of my favorite Charlotte radio stations when passing through. Because you might want a break from your podcast, audiobook, or music streamer.
The six radio stations that I set as my car radio presets are:
- WSGE 91.7
- Format: Independent Music / Adult Album Alternative (AAA) / Beach Music
- Hits 96.1 (WHQC-FM)
- Format: Top 40/Pop
- 95.7 The Ride (WXRC – Classic Hits)
- Format: Classic Hits/Classic RocK
- 102.9 The Lake (WLKO – Oldies/Classic Hits)
- Format: Adult Hits / Classic Hits
- K104.7
- Format: Classic Hits / Adult Contemporary
- 106.5 The End (WEND – Alternative)
- Format: Alternative Rock
Sorry, if you’re a country fan, none of the stations I rattled off were country radio stations. I’m not really a country music fan. I’m more into classic rock, 80s music, 90s alternative, and Pop music these days.
I probably lost a few of you here. Doh!
These are my favorite radio stations in the Charlotte area that I set as my car radio presets. I hope you like them. I hope that I saved you a future scan.
There’s a bit of everything among those stations that will fill your moods and desires. Expect the country. I apologize again for that. I understand the best Charlotte country station is 96.9 The Kat.
What radio stations should people check out when they’re in your area? Let us know in the comments.
