CHARMED LOCH, N.C. – “Oops, our bad,” a newly married couple was told by their apartment complex after learning that the complex’s lakeside living area is a detention pond with two lawn chairs.
“Yep, that is, in fact, what they said. We asked the agent on duty where the lake was, and they pointed to the detention pond and lawn chairs. We were floored,” said 23-year-old Jerry Hannah during a phone interview.
Jerry and his wife Geri (22) recently moved into the Cascades of Charmed Loch Apartments, located at 513 Cherry Street, after taking jobs with the Frakes County school system. They signed a one-year lease without physically seeing the apartment first.
The Hannahs filed an action against The Cascades yesterday, claiming that the leasing agent misled them about the apartment complex’s amenities after the property manager told them they couldn’t let them out of their lease.
“We were told there was a lake and nature trails at Cascades. None of this was true, so we instantly wanted to leave the lease,” Geri stated.
The only amenities currently listed on the Cascades of Charmed Loch Apartment Complex website are a basketball court, playground, picnic area, and grill.
In addition to wanting out of their lease, the Hannahs are seeking deposit refunds and moving costs in an undisclosed dollar amount.
The Stormstrouper Post contacted The Cascades for comment but has not received a response.
