Remember in the late 90’s, the “In the year 2000” sketch from Late Night with Conan O’Brien, where Andy Richter, James Lipton, and Conan would look into the future and see how ridiculous the new millennium would be. Well, that was 26 years ago!
I hope that was a successful hook, just to say that we are now in 2026. And I hope everyone is having a great beginning to your new year thus far.
“I am!” and “Thank you for asking?”
At the beginning of a new year, we always make new goals, priorities, focuses, and blahs to work on for the next 365 days. So let me give it a go!
“In the year 2026!” I want to do more blogging. This past year, I posted some content to my website, but not as much as in 2024. In 2024, I posted like three blogs a month.
My goal is to blog as I did in 2024!
My priority will be making the time each month to write three.
My focus will be on blogging within these three pillars/categories: My Writing, Geeky & Shiny, and North Carolina.
My blah is what I end up writing between these categories.
Let me expand on each category.
My Writing: this category should actually be called “my creative writing” because these posts will consist of my original fiction short stories, WIP chapters, micro fiction, haiku poems, etc. This is where I’ll share all my magazine and contest submissions after rejection. I joke, but seriously, that will definitely happen.
Geeky & Shiny: this category is the least straightforward out of the three. I consider myself to be a geek, and I’m into some geeky stuff. This is where I plan to show that side of me. This will be anything about the shows and movies I mess with, to whatever my current interests are, to the answer to some random thing that popped into my mind that I just googled.
North Carolina: I am a North Carolinian, and this is where I’ll talk about and promote my home state. I plan to use my GIS background to roll out an interactive map to help achieve this beyond blog posts very soon.
The plan is to post a blog from each category each month. I guess that would be one every ten days or so.
I’m super excited about this! I really enjoy blogging, even though some people might say it’s an unalive form of writing.
