April is one of my favorite times of the year. The weather is usually perfect for me, and the landscape is very green and vibrant. This excellent spring month is also jammed pack with April Fools Day, Easter, and Earth Day. And I just learned recently that the fourth month of the year is also National Poetry Month.
The Academy of American Poets introduced National Poetry Month in 1996 to celebrate poetry in the United States.
I learned that I enjoy writing poetry, especially a haiku poem.
For your information, in case you forgot, a haiku is a three-lined poem. The first line consists of five syllables, the second line consists of seven, and the third consists of five.
I decided to write a haiku daily in April for this year’s National Poetry Month and share them on Threads. That adds up to thirty haikus.
Well, I just reread them all, and it’s safe to say I’m not Walt Whitman or Robert Frost. I joke. Laugh out Loud.
My poems are bad, sad, forced, and boring. My poems are also dope, brilliant, funny, and geeky. Find out for yourself, starting with the one from Day 1. I started strong on April 1st.
